The Diffractor website is operated by Zac Walker and is the authoritative online distribution source for the Diffractor software application, which is also published in the Microsoft Store.
Terms and Conditions
Diffractor is free software. It may be redistributed and/or modified under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL), version 2.1 or any later version. License details: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl-2.1.html.
The Diffractor application is governed by its End User License Agreement (EULA). By installing or using the application, the user agrees to the EULA.
Software and documentation made available for download from this website are subject to the terms contained in those materials. If any conflict exists, the EULA and applicable open‑source licenses control.
Privacy Statement
Diffractor respects privacy. Personal information is not sold or traded.
Your photo and video collection stays in ordinary folders on your PC and connected drives. Browsing and indexing the collection does not upload your photos or videos.
Support reports: Information submitted through the support service is stored on Google Cloud so the issue can be investigated. This can include names, email addresses, messages, application versions, system details, file paths, and diagnostic attachments.
Crash diagnostics: When the application crashes and Send diagnostics is enabled, it can upload diagnostic reports and attachments to help improve reliability. These can contain personal information, including file paths; they should not be assumed to be anonymous. You can disable Send diagnostics in the application options. The Microsoft Store edition does not have this option and does not upload crash diagnostics.
Automatic updates: The application can check for and download updates from diffractor.com. This may involve contacting Diffractor web services to determine whether a new version is available. Update requests can include the application version, operating system, and feature-usage flags; the service records daily aggregate usage counts. Automatic updates can be disabled in the application options. The Microsoft Store edition does not send these update requests; the Microsoft Store installs its updates under Microsoft's own terms and privacy statement.
User Data Deletion
Uninstalling the application removes cached local user data. It does not delete support reports or diagnostic attachments that have already been sent to the support service.

Original photos and videos remain in the folders where the user saved them and are not deleted by uninstalling
the application.
A daily cleanup is scheduled to delete support reports and their linked diagnostic attachments once they are older than 30 days. Aggregate usage counts are also scheduled for removal after 30 days.
For privacy questions or an earlier deletion request, email help@diffractor.com. Include the approximate report date and the contact details you used so the report can be identified. Do not post private information or diagnostic attachments to the public issue tracker.
Cookies
The Diffractor website aims to avoid the use of cookies. If any cookies are present, they are limited to those that are strictly necessary for the site to function.

Except as required by law, the website and application are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non‑infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Diffractor and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to use of the website or application.
